I have only got the marriage certificate of William Whiter and Ann Gobert
You have a point about them being the same person, you may well be right as the first one seems to disappear.
 
I am also thinking that William's father, William may
 have been a bigamist, or at least living with Maria Popplewell
 while still married to Mary Ann Marr.
