I am looking for a Charles Whiter who married an Elizabeth McCauley in 1832 at St. Leonard's Church, Shoreditch. Do you think he could be your Charles Whiter? If so, he is my g.g.grandfather.

Thank you very much indeed for sending me the connection to this site. Alas it appears to confirm my suspicion that I am not related to Charles and Eliz. Whiter, but to a Charles and Sarah Whitter, but without this site I would still be struggling.

can't help wondering if the two families are related. The surname is so similar. They lived in the same areas at the same time and both families believe they are descended from Huguenots. My nan (Sarah Whitter's grand-daughter) was definitely told that she was of Huguenot descent.

If you find any connections between the two families I'd be delighted to know.
