From the Commodore
I
would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all
the members to thank George Copp for organising the
new sea-defences at the south end of the boat park,
Joe Armstrong for the re-laying of the water and
electrics, and Paul Jury and his men for executing
the contract so efficiently.
Open week was blessed with decent weather and went
off very well, and the Cadet program was attended by
90 youngsters. Thanks here to the Rear-Commodore,
Senior OOD and Training Officer for their
organisation, plus the instructors, safety boat
crews and shore-based helpers, without whom none of
this would have been possible.
Despite poor mid-summer weather, most of the racing
program was completed and now, sadly it is time to
lay-up and start planning for next year. However the
Vice-Commodore has organised lots of social
activities for the winter (see below) and we hope
plenty of you will attend.
By the time you read this, Mukti Mitchell should
have completed his Low Carbon Lifestyle
circumnavigation of Britain. Congratulations to him
and those who crewed for him on a magnificent
achievement.
As a result of more thieving from the changing rooms
during Cadets week, the committee has decided on new
security arrangements for next season.
The AGM is on 30 November at 1930hr. The procedure
for tabling questions etc. has been posted up on the
Club notice board. Please try and come. After all it
is your Club and it would be great if more of you
came forward to help run it !
