Well where did the
summer go…
There has been so much going on I can hardly find
time to put pen to paper and by the time you read
this the summer sailing will almost have come to an
end.
Sailors have come and gone, but the good news is
that of the 8 boats sold only one has actually left
the club, and we saw that boat at the Isle of Wight
Nationals.
We had a very good turn out at the Nationals, 7
sailors and 2 Trolley Dollies. The top 2 NDYC
sailors managed a 12th place (Sam Heaton)
and 13th place (Rob Way).
Sailing was very mixed from a force 3 to a force 7
and if you think the tides are strong here you
should try them at Gurnnard.
The accommodation was top notch as was the
hospitality and the setting. I enjoyed it so much
that I have already booked a chalet for 2009 when we
return to Gurnnard. Don’t forget the Nationals at
Instow next year June 27 – 29 2008.
A warm welcome to the new comers Richard, Ruth,
Mark, Chris, Alex, Tom and Graham.
The good news about having an influx of 7 new
sailors is that it has reduced the average age of
the Sprint 15 fleet by 15 years to 40 years old.
Mainly due to two 2 fifteens being sailed by Cadets.
Thanks Tom & Alex.
As last year there will be a number of social events
which will be open to all sailors. We found that
this worked very well as tables were set aside for
sailors of different fleets so that you sat with
like minded people. These events have become very
popular (so much so that on the Italian evening we
nearly had to turn people away) SO PLEASE BOOK
EARLY.
May you all be blessed with wind.
