The Great Game
Welcome to my site. As I have collected a fair amount of background information for my Castle Falkenstein games over the past few years, I have finally sorted out the heaps of notes into some sort of order and started this site to share that information with fellow players of the 'Great Game'.
We play Castle Falkenstein largely as a 'table-top' game with six regular players but once or twice a year we manage a live event with roughly fifteen to twenty participants. A few of these other players run small scenarios for their own characters. Our group of players is mainly made up of friends who met through historical re-enactment and we tend to apply much of the same thoroughness to our live Falkenstein costume as we do to the other periods we re-enact. Hopefully I will be updating this site on a fairly regular basis. My research on the Rhinelands is continuing as our party of Dramatic Characters slowly travel through the region causing, and occasionally, defeating Chaos.
The first four pages form the basic introductory notes that I hand out to new players (my wife says just to confuse them).
This is followed by a few notes on our house rules - we tend to play using a variation of the Common Sense Rules covered in Comme Il Faut.
Then comes the Dramatic Characters page which has several Dageurotypic Images of our live events.
After this is some background information o the Glorious Austro-Hungarian Empire within whose wide territories, many of our Dramatic Characters are based.
Next is the start of an extensive section on the Rhinelands in New Europa, this area of small states is the current recipient of our party's attentions.
Other items of interest include a gradually expanding Beastiary and a page on new invetions and devices for you 'Steam Age' technophiles.
Finally we reach that section which contains a bibliography of the books I have made use of over the past few years and a very slowly developing collection of links to other sites of interest to fellow players of Castle Falkenstein.
