The Eagles Die, Franz Joseph, Elisabeth & their Austria. Marek, George R. Hart-Davies, MacGibbon Ltd, London 1975. A chatty biography of the Austro-Hungarian Imperial family.  Good introduction on life in Vienna in the 19th century.

Solid biography with some good information of the Imperial Court and a chronology of Franz Joseph's life.

Lines of Succession. Louda, Jiri & Maclagan, Michael. Little. Brown & Company, London, 1999.

A good book on the heraldry & geneaology of the Royal Houses of Europe from the Middle Ages to the Present day. I found this most useful in tracking down the rightful rulers of several of the Rhineland Principalities.
