Dire Wolves

These Faerie creatures are found in mountainous or forested areas of New Europe, except in Britain or Ireland. Although, thankfully, rare, they are most commonly seen in far Northen and Eastern New Europa (Norway, Sweden, Hungary and Russia).

Dire wolves are large (three to four times bigger than normal wolves) They are frequently the leaders of packs of ten to twenty ordinary wolves. The pack seems to have an uncanny ability to work closely together and this may be due to an innate magical link with the Dire Wolf.

Great Horses

Great Horses are rare Faerie beasts. In general appearance, there is little to tell them apart from the finest normal horse, however, if one looks them in the eye ther can be no doubt of the insight and intelligence that is the sign of a Great Horse.

Great Horses are fully capable of speech and are fully sentient. They choose their riders personally out of resepect and/or deep friendship. It is rumoured that Alexander the Great's horse, Bellerphon, and Napoleon Bonaparte's horse, Marengo, were both Great Horses. These Faerie can and do take Human form when they wish but they consider their natural form to be that of a horse.

Ordinary Horses

Salamanders

Faerie Salamanders are found in the Mediterranean parts of New Europa, Central and South America and the Mid to Southern parts of North America. Although they are land dwellers, they do prefer to live in damp places. If threatened, salamanders have the abillity to ignite material around them. They are immune to the effects of fire, however, it is unknown whether they are safe from Dragon Firecast.
