The Grand Duchy Of Baden.
Grand Duke Frederick, who has ruled the Grand Duchy of Baden since 1858, is much admired by many citizens of the German states. His strong encouragement of democratic reform in his realm and his staunch defence of the rights of his people through court reform and legislation make Frederick one of the most progressive hereditary rulers in New Europa.
The city of Mannheim on the northern border of Baden is, to all intents and purposes, the terminus of the commercial navigation of the River Rhine. It is from here that goods and passsengers can only travel on by small boats and by land.
