The Long Distance Walkers Association welcomes all those interested in walking for pleasure and fitness to our web site.

The Wessex group walks cover footpaths over all terrains over a large area of Southern England mainly centred on Hampshire but regularly include areas of adjoining counties. Our popular social walks are held twice monthly (usually the 1st and 3rd Sundays), are between 15 and 25 miles, and almost always include a pub stop of approx. 1 hour for lunch. Click on the link below to see details of our current walk programme.

In Summer, we also have an evening walk programme running from early May to late August. Walks are usually of 4 - 6 miles and held twice a month on a Friday. These are more relaxed in nature and provide an opportunity for new members to meet others in our group on walks at a slower pace. Click the link below to view our next programme.

In addition to our varied social walk programmes, the group organizes or helps to organize challenge walks:

*     New Forest Marathon - Sunday 18th April 2010. See Strider for details.

*     South Downs Marathon,  TBA.

 Contact Walks Secretary

If you are interested in joining us on any of the social walks why not contact the walks secretary by clicking the link above. You don't have to be a member to try it out, although to continue walking with the group you would be expected to subscribe after a trial period to ensure you are covered by the group's insurance policy.

Other regional LDWA groups (of which there are 40 or more) also organize their own challenge walks. See details on their web pages which can be accessed from the LDWA's main site at http://www.ldwa.org.uk
