Wessex 100 - May 2009

Marshal's walk - The graveyard shift for Tim, Kathy, Jenny and Nigel at Rowlands Castle village hall. 3:30am and just getting the breakfast on the go.

Marshal's walk - Breakfast awaits 2 cheery entrants with another not far behind.

Marshal's walk - Relaxation in the morning sun after all but 2 of the entrants had gone through.

Main Event - Before start at Eggars. Town crier about to beat me senseless with his bell. (On-looker behind cringes in disbelief).

Main Event - They're off! All 490 about to be bottle-necked at the playing field rear exit. What cracking weather for the event.

Stretching out after the start

First checkpoint, Selborne, run by Beds, Bucks & Northants group. Even at 7 miles, there was one retiree.

Second day a.m. at breakfast stop, Rowlands Castle. A 72 year old (Devon & Cornwall) looks ready for a rest after 60 miles. East Lancs group stepped up to the plate with a cracking breakfast.

After breakfast - Was this fear of the chairs in the village hall getting too comfortable?

Kilmeston vilage hall p.m. 2nd day, 82 miles. Cornwall & Devon putting on a great spread for some really grateful weary walkers after the heat of the day.
