THE INTERNATIONAL GENEAOLGY INDEX
The IGI can be viewed at our local main library, County Record Office or Family History Centre.
It has and still is compiled by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
One of the best ways to search it is by using its website. www.familysearch.org
The features of the website are.
- Searches indexes of hundreds of millions of dead people.
- Gives advise on searching counties and periods in which you are interested in.
- A catalogue of other records and books which may help you.
- Links to websites of other people who have submitted their family history to them.
- Communicate with others through email messages.
- A very useful online help about the Family Search Internet system.
