The late Dodie Smith, author of 101 Dalmations lived on the outskirts of the village. A picture of her house can be found on 'this page'.

During 1980, the seven bells and bell cage in the church of St John the Baptist were removed and subsequently re-installed (following refurbishment) by Red Horse personnel from the nearby USAF Wethersfield. This project was undertaken as part of the USAF's good neighbour policy, which was implemented at the time to good effect for all concerned.
