We all think the village needs some development but we would like to see appropriate development which is in scale with the existing settlement and which will not swamp the existing community.
We want to see the development support the existing community and to provide improved services and facilities which will support and encourage existing businesses and enable the present population to prosper.
Along with this we would like new areas of green space to enjoy and for our children to play in.
We would also like to see Leeds City Council invest the same amount of money in roads, paths, street lighting and cleaning etc as they do in the rest of the district rather than relying on this being done as part of the pit site project and described as a benefit.
Although the action group has been accused of most things it is a totally non political group. However we will accept help from any direction in which we can get it. It is politicians who run the country and we have to accept assistance from them where we can get it. We have contacted many Councillors, etc., with identical letters--only a few have responded.
At present our duly elected Labour Councillors and MP do not appear to be able to support us in our aims although why this is we do not know. We sincerely hope that this will change soon.
Is there anyone who has expertise in planning law and would be able to advise us?
If you are in a position to help with our cause please contact us. Also if you are in a similar position please contact us as we might be able to help each other.
