New way to submit your bird records

As an alternative to record card submission, save time, money and resources by submitting your bird records by e-mail. If you have a spreadsheet (Excel or Lotus 123 for example), simply set up column headings as shown below and enter your sightings as you see them. At the end of the month, e-mail the file to the recorder and your records can be integrated directly onto the new Bird Records Database.

Notes

• Your records do not need to be sorted into checklist, date or location order.
• Fields such as age and sex can be left empty
• Limit comments to about 20 words. This field can also be left empty
• Grid ref. can also be left empty although it would greatly assist the recorder if this was filled. A list of grid references can be found in the back of the 1996 Northamptonshire Bird Report.
• Make the most of your spreadsheets abilities to copy, paste and fill.
