Ladies 1sts
vs Blackburn Won 3 - 0
With promotion in sight the Chester ladies team turned up at
Blackburn with a professional, determined attitude. The game started very
evenly with both teams wanting the win, some amazing saves by Chesters
keeper Gemma Ible kept the score 0-0 at half time. The game once again
stepped up a gear and Chester really put on a great performance. Tess
Whieldon made a crucial defensive tackle which started the attack that lead
to Chesters first goal by Michelle Daltry. In a class of her own Daltry then
lobbed the ball skilfully over the keeper to take Chester to 2-0. As the
pressure built up on a tired Blackburn side the last 10 minutes was all in
Chesters attacking half. Fran O'neil struck the ball from a short corner as
it headed goalwards, Sam Queck got a final touch to give Chester a 3-0
victory. A totally dedicated performance by the whole of Chester ladies 1st

1sts vs Harrogate Won 4 - 2
Many spectators turned out on Saturday
to watch top of the league Chester ladies against Harrogate. With so much to
play for Harrogate started strongly and put two goals away in a short space
of time. Never having been two goals down before, Chester began to play their
game of hockey. Just before half time Catherine Gill came on, to show her
fantastic skill as she dribbled the ball along the backline and slotted it
into the goal. After half time Chester really gave the crowd something to
watch and stepped up the pace. Fran O'Neils strike on goal brought the score
to 2-2 closely followed by Laura Millar scoring from another short corner.
Harrogate just couldn't keep up with the pace and ball speed of the dynamic
Chester side. A skilful delivery by Debbie Roper meant a straight forward
goal by Michelle Daltry to give the Chester side a 4-2 victory and another 3

1sts vs Upminster National Trophy Draw 3 3 Chester won on flicks
A dramatic All England Cup match was played on Sunday in Upminster.
Having travelled the long distance Chester ladies were slow to start.
Upminster scored from a penalty stroke in the first 20 minutes. Two more
goals were quickly put away by the Upminster side who seemed to be more
wanting of the win. Just before half time a goal from Michelle Daltry and an
assist from Alex Gill from Chester made the score 3-1 to Upminster. Chester
were quick to respond after half time and stepped up the pace. Chester played
like a different team with faster ball pace, two touch hockey and clear
individual skill that lead to a second goal by Pat Wells from a penalty
stroke. The final whistle blew just as Chester were about to take a short
corner. The tension was extremely high - Laura Millar managed to get the ball
into the back of the net to make the score 3-3 and enable the match to go on
for golden goal. Even more dramatic hockey took place with a battle of the
two sides that was fierce and fast. Even though a goal was scored by Chester
it was unfortunately not given and extra time concluded with no goals. It was
then onto penalty flicks. Thanks to 4 great penalties taken by the Chester
team and (one not so fantastic) and two brilliant saves by Sharon Durrow in
goal Chester were victorious and now go on to the semi finals of the All

particularly tough York side. A fantastic open goal by Michelle Daltry meant
Chester started well but the game was never going to be an easy one to win. A
