vs Winnington Park (Sunday 28th – Quarter Final of the National
Plate) – Won 9 – 2
Chester started very strongly, scoring
3 goals within the first 15 minutes, but Winnington stuck at it and went in
at half time 4-1 down. Winnington came out playing well but John Roper and
David Bond steadied Chester who then pushed on to score another three in
quick succession. Winnington made a few good chances but were denied by solid
defending from Richard Wood and John Hirst, when Winnington did penetrate it
took a very good strike to beat Roger Watt in goal. Matthew Tottey then added
another for Chester, before Tim Davies crowned the game with an excellent
drag flick to make it 9-2.
Chester will now play the semi-final
away against West Bridgford, Nottingham, on Saturday 17th April.
