U15 vs Winnington Park (Sunday 28th – Quarter Final of the National Plate) – Won 9 – 2

Chester started very strongly, scoring 3 goals within the first 15 minutes, but Winnington stuck at it and went in at half time 4-1 down. Winnington came out playing well but John Roper and David Bond steadied Chester who then pushed on to score another three in quick succession. Winnington made a few good chances but were denied by solid defending from Richard Wood and John Hirst, when Winnington did penetrate it took a very good strike to beat Roger Watt in goal. Matthew Tottey then added another for Chester, before Tim Davies crowned the game with an excellent drag flick to make it 9-2.

Chester will now play the semi-final away against West Bridgford, Nottingham, on Saturday 17th April.

MATCH REPORTS FOR SATURDAY 20th MARCH

 

Ladies 1sts vs York -  Won 6 - 2

Chester Ladies, although already promoted to the National League wanted to keep their run of victory. At home against York ladies team they battled with the wind to provide the spectators with yet another display of skill, determination and great team play.The score line at half time was a convincing 4-1 lead to Chester with goals from Debbie Roper, Michelle Daltry (2) and Pat Well (penalty). The second half the wind was against the Chester team but their fitness showed till the final whistle. Two more goals from Sam Queck and Laura Millar brought the score to 6-1 with York scoring a consolation goal in the last two minutes. 6-2 to Chester.

Ladies 2nds vs Brooklands – Lost 0 - 3

Chester finished their league season ending in mid table of Cheshire Div 1. The last match against Acton was played in gale conditions, which nearly led to the match being abandoned as the goals were being blown away. In the first half Chester had the majority of possession, but were not able to capitalise on this. In the second half Chester again kept possession well, but the luck of the umpiring decisions fell against them. Chester lost 3-0.

 

Ladies 3rds vs Oxton 2nds – Lost 1 - 2

 

Ladies 4ths vs Oxton 3rds – Won 2 - 1

Chester showed renewed efforts this weekend after a disappointing game the previous weekend.  Chester put out a strong side to face league opponents Oxton. Chester were able to open the scoring through a goal from Jenny Watters after placing the Oxton defence under pressure from the whistle. Oxton were quick to equal the score line to leave the score 1-1 at halftime. Chester demonstrated superb flare in their attacking moves to create further goal-scoring opportunities.    Late in the second half Chester were able to seal victory through an excellent goal by Laura Merchant leaving the score line 2-1. Mens 3rds vs Oxton 4ths  – Draw 2 - 2

Chester played there last game of the season against promotion chasers Oxton and finished with a credible draw in gale force winds. Chester's goals were scored by midfielders Mark Harnden and Tom Selby, Harnden's strike being the pick of the two smashed into the top corner.

Mens 6ths vs Winnginton Park 3rds – Won 6 - 2

In relaxed friendly game Chester mustered a scratch side with the aid of the opposition.  With only nine players there was plenty of space to manouvre.  Winnington opened the scoring while Chester settled down but scores were level at two each for half time.  The team talk at the interval identified accurate early passing to be the key and this was put into practice in the second half.  The result included hat tricks for Danny Hill and Craig Duffy.  Winnnington's youngest player-loan helped set up two of the goals while Roger Watts in goal stopped some solid shots.
