Mens 1sts vs – Deeside
Ramblers 1st – Lost 3 - 4
High levels of adrenalin at County
Offices for the home team as the local derby delivered all it was meant to,
nail biting action, end-to-end play and the usual strange umpiring decisions.
The visitors took the lead, however it wasn’t long before Tim Hewson picked
up a loose ball at the top of the D and chipped over the stranded keeper.
Again Deeside took the lead but after obtaining a short corner, Sam Chapman
converted and levelled the game once more. After the interval, Deeside
applied the pressure and made it 3-2. With 10 minutes left, rob mason was
flattened in the d therefore obtaining a penalty flick and Ian Boothroyd
stepped up to the plate and sent the keeper in the wrong direction.
Unfortunately Deeside sneaked the winner leaving Chester to tender their
wounds. Player of the match was Paddy Bingham

Mens 1sts
vs – Tynmouth 1 – Draw 3 - 3
Up at the crack of dawn for the long trawl to Tynemouth, saw
Chester start as if they had been in heavy traffic. It wasn’t long before the
hosts were 3 – 0 up and Chester up against the rails. At half time and after
stern words from coach (Andy Ible) and captain (Tim Hewson) Chester found
sweet retribution in the second half. Misses from short corner drag flicker
Mat Thombs were soon forgotten when Bond jnr was tackled in the “D” and Ian
Boothroyd converted the penalty flick. Second goal was a casual affair by Rob
Mason and the final goal was a straight strike from Tim Hewson who expertly
found Sam Anderson to catapult the ball into the roof of the net. Further
chances were in the offering, however a draw was a satisfactory result for
the visiting side considering the predicament they found themselves in after
35 minutes. Man of the match was Richard Bond.

Mens 1sts vs – Durham
University 1 – Lost 2 - 3
After a good start Chester
went down 1-0 on the 15 minute mark to Durham University. This incensed the
home team and after a well worked routine Craig Duffy levelled the score. It
wasn’t long before further influential work from Harvey Shaw and Russell
Anderson gave Craig the opportunity to take the lead. Chester maintained the
dominance as Matt Thomas kept a steady ship at the back . Also influential
was the injured Dave Pearson on the side line who provided constant vocal
support. Unfortunately 2 short corners ensued for the opposition in the dying
minutes, both were converted and that sealed Chester’s fate at 2-3. Man of
the match was Russell Anderson

Mens 1st vs Brooklands 2nd –
Draw 3 - 3
An extremely competitive game
that began at a high pace with Brooklands braking the deadlock. It wasn’t
long before a short corner ensued for the visitors, although poorly injected,
skipper Tim Hewson out paced the keeper to the far left hand corner. Both
veteran Chris Thomas and Mat Thombs, who modelling his new haircut, put in
solid performances. This resulted in Chester taking the lead after Tim Hewson
combined with Craig Duffy and Rob Mason who ultimately scored. Brooklands
soon equalised, however Chester again took the lead after Mat Hyden picked
off an easy ball about 1 foot from the goalmouth. Unfortunately Brooklands
equalised 5 minutes from time after some poor interplay from Mat Thombs and
Dave Newman, therefore the 3-3 Draw became the final result.

Mens 1st vs Preston – Lost 8 - 0
A pretty poor performance all round
from Chester against Preston. At half time the score was only 2 – 0, however
after the break Preston kept on applying the pressure and quite quickly
Chester were 4 - 0 down. The visiting sides heads went down and Preston
created chance after chance which they converted giving a final score of 0-8.
Dave Newman stood out as the best of a bad bunch providing a solid
performance as sweeper. Unfortunately he was let down by the rest of his
teamates.
