Pennthorpe's Kindergarten           

The Pennthorpe Kindergarten is a place which buzzes and where learning is fun

A brand new building for our 2 and 3 year-olds has just been opened and is a source of immense pride to both those who teach and those who learn there.

There are two buildings set close to each other: 'The Honey Pot' caters for the 2 / 3 year olds, whilst 'The Beehive' houses the 3 / 4 year olds. Each has its own well-qualified staff.

Outside

There are safe, enclosed playgrounds with  grass areas and beds for planting, providing scope for developing physical and spatial skills as well as investigating the natural world.  We also have use of the larger and enclosed Pennthorpe playground and sports hall.

What will your child learn?

We have a carefully structured, broad curriculum which incorporates:

• Language and literacy skills
• Maths, science and technology
• Art, music and physical skills
• Personal and social development

Weekly themes

Each area of the curriculum is consolidated through a different theme each week; 'Under the Sea', 'Garden Creatures' and 'Our pets' form just some of our topics.

These allow ideas to be linked and developed through role play, music and story times, construction, drawing and writing as well as exploring science.
