Marsden Congregational Chapel and

Buckley Hill Chapel Burial Ground, Marsden

On 3rd May 1801 James Bond of Midgley (born Kendal 1779) married Ann Butterfield of Ovenden at Halifax, West Riding Yorkshire. He was a papermaker by trade, and in 1823 he became the Minister at the Clayton West Chapel, and from 1824 the Rev. James Bond was the Independent Minister at the Marsden Congregational Chapel.

On 14th October 1846, Rev.James Bond retired as Pastor, and for the next ten years of his life, he resided at 21 Thimble Street, Marsden.

A book “The History of Marsden Congregational Church” was written by Rev. L.Beaumont in 1900, in which tribute was paid to all the Ministers who administered at the Chapel.

An appendix to the book lists INTERMENTS in the Buckley Hill Chapel Burial Ground, Marsden.
For the benefit of researchers I have taken the liberty of indexing them below, in some instances only part dates are quoted and these should be checked with official registers.
