MESS OFFICER

1. BEFORE MEALS
a) With the assistance of the Mess Squad, will
1. butter bread as necessary, place on plates ready to be laid on the tables.
2. clean and tidy the Mess Tent and ensure that chairs and tables are in their right places for meal times.
3. place condiments, jams, butter, bread - as required by the Cook and QM - on each table to the quantities given by the Quartermaster.
b) The Mess Squad may also assist the Quartermaster Squad in preparing tea.

2. SERVING ROTAS
a) organises the SERVING ROTAS for each meal-time.
b) publishes a list on the Stedfast Camp Notice Board; this will include serving for the CAMP SUPPER.
c) ensures that servers are in serving position on time.

3. AFTER MEALS
a) With the assistance of the Mess Squad will:
1. remove dirty plates and mugs off the tables and dispose of waste food in the designated receptacles.
2. stack plates, etc. outside ready for the Washing Up Squad.
3. clean and wipe tables and return condiments to their containers in the designated area.
4. return any unused food items to the Quartermaster for re-use or disposal.
i) The Mess Officer will check that the QM Assistants have placed washing-up bowls outside the Mess Tent for the campers. If not, the Mess Officer will inform the QM.

4. CAMP SUPPER
a) The Mess Officer will assist in preparing the Mess Tent for the Camp Supper in the evening and will enlist and organise available staff to arrange Tables and Chairs as suggested by the Programme Team Leader, who will assist in table decorations, etc. calling for assistance from the Equipment Officer.

5. LAST DAY OF CAMP
a) will make sure that all Food Condiments, table cloths, communion set and other items are returned to the Quartermaster.
b) with the help of the Mess Squad, will tidy up the Mess Tent ensuring that all tables and chairs are in their correct position or neatly stacked.

The Mess Officer is to supervise and mark on the performance of the MESS SQUAD.
The Mess Officer is accountable to the Quartermaster.
