Hamsters we have loved
These cute little Syrian hamsters lived between 1991 and 2001. Most nights they were given the freedom to run around several rooms in our home for an hour or more, and they all loved climbing the stairs! Aside from having to be careful where we walked, these little guys and gals caused few problems. They seemed to enjoy biting the thin wires of my radio headphones, but none of them ever - never once - chewed on electrical wire. I don't know how they knew this was dangerous! If you have a hamster, try giving it a bit of freedom now and again. Coax it out of its home, and with patience it will learn to be comfortable being cupped in your hands. They only bite if frightened, and they never bite anyone they trust. Be patient with your hamster, and they will reward you by chilling out and doing all sorts of funny things, like climbing up your trouser legs unexpectedly!
