The Gauge 1 Steam Railway was built at the museum in 2006 and is available for visitors to use to run their steam locomotives on, provided they hold an up to date boiler certificate.
It is a double track with steaming bays on one side. The track is a loop, some 30 metres long and runs within the tree belt at the rear of the museum. The track is raised approximately 3/4 metre above ground level both for viewing and for steaming the loco's.
Another track is under construction but this time it is the much larger 5 inch gauge, again this will be available for clubs and private individuals to use.
