Shoot Report  13th April 2003
2 X 18 Big Game

May I start by passing on my thanks to all those who congratulated myself and Melanie on the birth of our daughter  Meagan , She arrived on the 4th April. Just in time for us to attend the shoot.
She is now our youngest member and her bow is on the way………...Thanks Pete.

I don't think we could have hoped for a better day than the one we had, clear skies and sunshine the order of the day. We were overwhelmed by the number of archers who turned out for us, a full house in fact, allowing us to fill all eighteen of our pegs.

Richard once again done us proud by putting out the sort of course that he has become famous for. With few opportunities to incorporate long shots his subtle skills shone through by placing short yet very testing shots. With the added attraction of a tree stand, with optional pegs for those less inclined to climb, we hoped that our guests would leave us happy and contented.

Fiona and Janet once again provided the tea and Bacon rolls ( Thanks Girls) and Lynne buried her head in the mountain of paper work that is admin.

All in all the day ran well with few hitches. Those archers taking the optional peg on the tree stand found themselves face to face with an even smaller target and the wolf seemed to catch people out as well, not as far away as it looked…..

Lunch soon dawned and Richard was off into the woods. Returning later with a grin on his face having re-pegged and faced some of the targets. (So much for keeping distance notes).

The afternoon again ran well if a little cooler in the shade, and soon the first groups began to finish. Following the raffle and prize giving archers gathered to pose for the local paper.

Many thanks to all those who helped. Richard, Robin, Steve, Fiona, Janet and Lynne.                                              Pete.

On a final note……….
We where approached at the shoot to ask why we had not given a safety brief before the shoot.

Whilst I agree with the gentleman's point, shouldn't we all as archers be aware of the safety implications of our sport and our responsibilities to our own and others safety? Do we really need to be reminded at every shoot?
And whilst I am aware of beginners at shoots is it not the responsibility of their own club to instruct them in the correct and safe manner to conduct themselves before attending?
