City Pastors Prayer Breakfast Report - Wednesday 24 January 2007

Present: Carol Bailey, Dennis Bakka, Jonathan Baker, Claudio Coquet, Tim Edworthy, Amy Fry, Keith Howarth, Gill Jessop, Paul Larcombe, Chris Moreton, Russ Parkes, Lars Pettersen, John Price, Dave Smith, Graham Timson, Sharon Walker, David Whitlock, Pauline Wills

Russ Parkes said that he had recently been inspired by reading the Gospel passages, but also commenting on them whilst they were being read. He read Luke 19:1-10 in this style; the account of Zacchaeus the Tax Collector. Russ was not sure if he was inspired, or being reminded about the 31 January deadline for his tax return! He wondered if Zacchaeus had, what would appear to be, one of the most mentioned professions in the New Testament, namely tax collecting.

Luke 19:5 'When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today."

Russ gave us five insights about Zaccheaus:
• Run ahead - he ran ahead of the crowd
• Get some height - he climbed a tree
• Be prepared for a surprise - God sometimes needs to jolt us out of our normal
• Jesus came to his house - the call to intimacy and fellowship
• Be ready for a cost - have a generous heart

Corporate prayer flowed from these five insights , followed by prayer for each other, in two's.

Gillian Jessop was prayed for by the whole group, as she is about to go on Sabbatical for three months. Enjoy!

Future meeting dates:

Wednesday 14 November
Wednesday 28 November
Wednesday 12 December

These are all at the Peterborough Salvation Army in Bourges Boulevard, New England.
