City Pastors Prayer Breakfast Report - Wednesday 27 June 2007

God is able!

Present: Carol Bailey, Tim Edworthy, Rod Elston, Keith Howarth, Andy Lanning, Paul Larcombe, Lars Pettersen, John Price, Dave Smith, Sharon Walker, David Whitlock, Pauline Wills

Paul spoke about his recent experience at the National Prayer Breakfast. Here's a brief extract from his notes: 'This is held in the Palace of Westminster, usually every year, but the last one was in 2005. I was encouraged by Stewart Jackson MP to put my name into the ballot for attendance and was then invited to attend. The event started at 7.30 am, which meant catching the 5.10 am train in order to arrive and get through security checks. On arrival in Westminster Hall I was very impressed by the scale of the place. There was a stage with vertical green banners with the words ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ and about 50 tables were set for breakfast for over 400 people. Those invited included MP’s and people from churches all around the country. I sat next to two people from a church in Southend as well as Lord Morris. As someone who seems to have acquired the organization of prayer breakfasts, (you may recall that I organized one in Peterborough for the Archbishop of Canterbury in 2000), it was inspirational to see it done so excellently and professionally, but most of all I was encouraged that prayer is going on at the very heart of the Palace of Westminster.'

Lars Pettersen led the prayer:

Luke 1:37 'For nothing is impossible with God.'
Matt 17:20 'Nothing will be impossible for you.'
Mark 11:23 '...it will be granted him.'
Eph 3:20 'Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine...'

Lars encouraged everyone present with the above scriptures, stating God is able!

Prayer was made in twos, including prayer over issues, people groups, the possibility of a University for Peterborough, Schools and Churches.

Prayer was also made for the Hope 2008 planning meeting that was held later that day.

Thanks to Lars for leading the prayer.

Future meeting dates:

Wednesday 14 November
Wednesday 28 November
Wednesday 12 December

These are all at the Peterborough Salvation Army in Bourges Boulevard, New England.
