Peterborough City Pastors Prayer Breakfast

Who we are:

A group of church leaders who have been meeting regularly since 1996, The group is open to anyone who is in church leadership in Peterborough and the surrounding region.

Where we meet:

The City Pastors Prayer Breakfast meets at Peterborough Salvation Army (in Bourges Boulevard, New England) every two weeks on a Wednesday morning at 8 am for 8.15 am.

What happens:

Arrive at 8 am and be greeted with a hot drink. Prayer starts at 8.15 am, led by one of the group, and can take a variety of forms. At 8.45 am breakfast is served and consists of toast and tea, or a full English breakfast, beautifully prepared by the staff at the Salvation Army. People usually leave from 9.15 am onwards.

'Who touched me?'

Present:

Pauline read Luke 8:40-48 and then offered the following reflection:

• Imagery of a woman pushing her way forward to Jesus.
• Why did she bend down to touch the hem of Jesus robe?
• At the bottom, it had four tassels with the letters JHWH and five knots for the TORAH; an expression of the oneness of God.
• She was bending and touching God as a demonstration of her humility.
• Power went out from Jesus as a result.
• Jesus had been called to Jairus' daughter, but this did not prevent Him from first attending to the need of the woman before Him.
• What an amazing God who pours out blessing!

Pauline encouraged a time of corporate intercession for the city and the church. All who prayed based what they said upon at least one aspect of the passage from Luke. Following this, she invited the group to split into groups of two or three for more personal prayer.

Some willing volunteers have emerged to produce the Prayer Breakfast Report and to update the website - more details to follow shortly.
