Peterborough City Pastors Prayer Breakfast

Who we are:

A group of church leaders who have been meeting regularly since 1996, The group is open to anyone who is in church leadership in Peterborough and the surrounding region.

Where we meet:

The City Pastors Prayer Breakfast meets at Peterborough Salvation Army (in Bourges Boulevard, New England) every two weeks on a Wednesday morning at 8 am for 8.15 am.

What happens:

Arrive at 8 am and be greeted with a hot drink. Prayer starts at 8.15 am, led by one of the group, and can take a variety of forms. At 8.45 am breakfast is served and consists of toast and tea, or a full English breakfast, beautifully prepared by the staff at the Salvation Army. People usually leave from 9.15 am onwards.

Notes from Follow-up Meeting on Wednesday 29 November 2006

Present for all or some of the time this morning were
Dave Smith, Denis Baka, Andy Lanning, David Weeks, Sharon Walker, David Whitlock, Chris Morton, Pauline Wills,
Carol Bailey, Tim Edworthy,Rod Elston, Teresa Brown, and Graham Timson.
Apologies were received from Russ Parkes.
 
Teresa Brown, the County Ecumenical Officer from Shire And Soke was welcomed as it was her first time at the breakfast.
 
A devotion time was led by Chris Morton who contrasted the disciples selfish motivation in Mark 10 v 35ff with the selfless motivation of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.
 
After breakfast there was a report back from the churches represented regarding their involvement in Purpose Driven Community for 2007 and Hope 2008.

Shire and Soke  Desire to join together for Hope 2008

 
Teresa Brown shared from the Shire and Soke group that year 2007 was to be for the C of E 'Mission Shaped' and that there was enthusiasm for Hope 2008. There are 3 Catholic Churches that want to be involved with Hope 2008 at congregational level.
She shared that the next Shire and Soke Lunch was being held at PCC's new building and that Dave Smith would be sharing at it. It is on 25th January 2007 12 noon - 2.00pm. We are all encouraged to be there. This is at the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
 
Dave Smith suggested inviting Andy Hawthorn of The Message to Peterborough to help launch Hope 2008 to the whole church in the city.
Teresa encouraged us to think about using the Posh stadium for a gathering of the church in the city for Pentecost 2008.
 
It was agreed that we should create a working group / steering group from our leaders breakfast and Shire and Soke and David Smith, Graham Timson, and Teresa Brown were asked to further this. Suggested names Dave, Russ and Graham plus David Whitlock from the breakfast group and Teresa, Cannon Jonathon Baker,Kerry Tancard and David Jennings from Shire and Soke.
 
On 7th February 2007 8.00am - 11.00am at the Salvation Army, after the breakfast which will be first,  David Beer, the International Director for Purpose Driven in the UK will be with us (CONFIRMED). Please invite your key leaders and confirm the numbers to Carol Bailey for catering purposes carol.bailey@partners.peterborough.gov.uk  Breakfast will be bacon butties! The invitation is extended to all who are interested from Shire and Soke. This is seen as a stepping stone to Hope 2008.
 
Finally, I have been requested by Richard Bartrop to inform you that he has suspected cancer of the pancreas, and he is asking that we pray for his healing. Please remember his wife Janet and the children at this difficult time. If the Lord gives any specific word of revelation, he would like to hear from you.
