Who we are:A group of church leaders who have been meeting regularly since 1996, The group is open to anyone who is in church leadership in Peterborough and the surrounding region. Where we meet:The City Pastors Prayer Breakfast meets at Peterborough Salvation Army (in Bourges Boulevard, New England) every two weeks on a Wednesday morning at 8 am for 8.15 am. What happens:Arrive at 8 am and be greeted with a hot drink. Prayer starts at 8.15 am, led by one of the group, and can take a variety of forms. At 8.45 am breakfast is served and consists of toast and tea, or a full English breakfast, beautifully prepared by the staff at the Salvation Army. People usually leave from 9.15 am onwards. |
Peterborough Hope 2008 Planning Meeting - 20 February 2007Meeting at Peterborough Community Church Tuesday 20 February 2007
Present: Chair Dave Smith (PCC), Carol Bailey (Salvation Army), Teresa Brown (Shire & Soke, Ecumenical), David Jennings (All Souls RC Church), Paul Larcombe (St Paul’s Church) Chris Moreton (Southside Methodist Church), Graham Timson (Church on the Rock, Elim) David Whitlock (Bretton Baptist Church). Apologies from Jonathan Baker, and welcome to Paul Larcombe in his role as prayer co-ordinator. Paul then led prayers. Since the last meeting: Dave S: Still trying to invite one of the “main 3” to come to Peterborough. Teresa: Still waiting for a reply from Peterborough United Football Club re Pentecost 2008. Will go to Cambridge Soul Survivor / Hope 08 Roadshow in Cambridge on Saturday 24th Feb. Working with Tim Sledge on how the church leaders can sign up to Hope 08. Chris: Churches in the circuit are waiting to see what’s next! Carol: Information about Hope 08 was well received at staff meeting.
Discussion & action 1 Prayer support – Paul gathered a list of areas for prayer, both general and specific. He also offered to make the reports of these meetings, as well as the prayer requests, available on City Pastors Prayer Breakfast website at http://website.lineone.net/~plarcombe/ 2 The need for finance was discussed, initially to pay for visiting speakers and expenses. The Shire & Soke treasurer will be asked about the practicalities of this and about the best way to pay for larger events in future. 3 Display boards will be needed to advertise Hope 08 at future events eg Set All Free on March 25th at the Cathedral, and at the East of England Show Church Tent in June. 4 Matt Wilde and Simon Campling from CROPS are “Hope Champions” for Peterborough on the www.hope08.com website. They are invited to join us at the next meeting – one or other of them to attend. 5 Five high points of the year – Fresh Hope in January, the Big Hope at Easter, Hope where you live, at May Bank Holiday & Pentecost, Hope Explored in September and the Gift of Hope at Christmas – Teresa to begin compiling a list of churches and people who are committed to Hope 2008 in Peterborough. 6 Connections with other towns, cities and communities were discussed, as to how they could also be blessed.
