Who we are:A group of church leaders who have been meeting regularly since 1996, The group is open to anyone who is in church leadership in Peterborough and the surrounding region. Where we meet:The City Pastors Prayer Breakfast meets at Peterborough Salvation Army (in Bourges Boulevard, New England) every two weeks on a Wednesday morning at 8 am for 8.15 am. What happens:Arrive at 8 am and be greeted with a hot drink. Prayer starts at 8.15 am, led by one of the group, and can take a variety of forms. At 8.45 am breakfast is served and consists of toast and tea, or a full English breakfast, beautifully prepared by the staff at the Salvation Army. People usually leave from 9.15 am onwards. |
Peterborough Hope 2008 Planning Meeting - 27 June 2007Meeting at Peterborough Community Church Wednesday 27 June 2007. Present: Chair Dave Smith (PCC), Jonathan Baker (Peterborough Cathedral), Teresa Brown (Shire & Soke, Ecumenical), Simon Campling (CROPS), David Jennings (All Souls RC Church), Paul Larcombe (St Paul’s Church), David Whitlock (Bretton Baptist Church). Apologies from Carol Bailey (Salvation Army), Chris Moreton (Methodist Circuit), Graham Timson (Church on the Rock, Elim) 1. Following 17 May at PCC Laurence Singlehurst’s talk is now available online at http://website.lineone.net/~plarcombe and also on CD – further copies of the CD may be duplicated from the ones we already have or else contact PCC for more. 29 churches have signed up so far. The list was emailed out to planning team earlier, on 23 June. On the latest version 3 of the Hope DVD, there is information on Re:Act, which is about teams of young people being trained in mission and outreach to run family fun in different parts of the country. This can also be found on the Hope08 website. There is also a very useful one minute talk by the Church of Scotland Mission Consultant. 2. Prayer strategy Paul is designing a prayer card to be sent out – full colour and short bullet points were suggested. Also a monthly prayer list to be emailed out to signed up churches.
3. 13 September – Roy Crowne at PCC. Jonathan and Dave to share the leading of this event. Karen to lead worship with a band from PCC plus extra musicians: Simon Campling, drums Simon to contact Russ Dawson Butterworth, Keyboards Caroline to contact Julian Brage, cornet, via Carol Bailey, S. Army David W to contact Amy, singer from Bretton BC Rehearsal to be arranged with Karen.
Format of the evening: 7.30pm Jonathan: welcome & prayer 15-20 mins worship Dave to speak and introduce Peterborough planning team On screen: photos and list of signed up churches All: Email photos to Caroline. 45 mins Roy Crowne Offering and Song Final prayer
Dave to arrange for teams for car park stewards, tea & coffee. Teresa to resource the Information table in the atrium with info to give away and sign up lists. Caroline will contact Roy Crowne and produce posters and flyers Teresa will send these out with a covering letter.
It was agreed to give £300 to Roy Crowne for Youth for Christ from Peterborough Hope funds held by Shire & Soke. 4. 5. 31 December – Peterborough Cathedral 6.30pm start of official launch at the beginning of the year with a prayer celebration. Sending out, possibly to prayer march through the streets.
6. Finance Over £500 has been donated so far.
7. Looking ahead to 2008 Possibly inviting Brian Mahwhinney, Gillian Beasley, the Mayor to an event later in the year.
Date of next meeting: Wednesday 25 July 11am NB venue: Benedict Rooms at Peterborough Cathedral. Jonathan to chair this, Dave is on holiday.
