Richard GROPP, born 28th August 1920 in Marburg. Died 14th June 1942 and buried in Malta. In 1960 his remains were taken to the St. Michele Cemetery, Cagliari, Sardinia

Erich GRUN, from Hannover, German Parachute Battalion, was captured in the Tyrol towards the end of the war and sent to Malta. In March 1947 he decided to escape by taking a small boat and heading for Sicily. He was accompanied by four other German POW’s, and after landing in Syracuse they split up. He reached Germany 23 days after leaving Malta
