HMS SUPERB

 

Built at Thames Iron Works, Blackwall, and launched 16th November 1875. The vessel had been ordered by the Turkish Government, and would be named Hamidieh, but due to a Russian War scare, she was purchased by the Royal Navy on 20th February 1878, and modified to Admiralty requirements. Named HMS Superb, an Iron Armour Plated ship, screw, 9710 tons.
