We've bin to Hull Fair, an' we're 'appy 'n merry.
Bin on all the rides there, with arr' Sally n' Terry.
But no ride at the Fair can ever compare
With the ride that you get on the old Humber Ferry.
We've bin to 'Ull Show, an' we're as bright as a berry!
Bin on every sideshow, with ar' Annie n' Gerry.
But no stall at the show can ever bestow
The thrill of a ride on the old Humber Ferry.
Arr', them were the days, of childhood's sweet ways,
With a load of 'oss-carts n' open-top tourers.
'Cause when I was a nipper, it was I that were skipper,
An' the rest o' the crew were pirates n' explorers.
So, full steam ahead for the Lincolnshire shore,
As we leave Hull behind, we shed not a tear.
O'er a mile wide 'o shallows, we'll paddle n' more,
We'll catch n' more trains on New Holland Pier.
For the years 'av flown, an' time 'as passed on,
An' so 'as ar Sally n' Annie, y'know,
One war took Gerry - it were the sea that took Terry,
An' there's only me left, to go to Hull Fair n' Hull Show,
An' pretend he's the skipper on the old Humber Ferry.
