With VAT being reduced to 15%, this has left us,
a very small business, with a considerable problem.

We have hundreds of prices,
which would all have to be altered 'by hand'.
We're not so automated as may first appear.

Given that it is only for a year, and VAT will
go back up again at the end of 2009,
this would make it a doubly costly exercise.

To complicate things further, not all our suppliers have
reduced the VAT to us ... so we cannot make a universal
reduction ourselves. Thus it will not apply to all of our prices.

We ourselves are not VAT registered, nor need to be,
so we're not using a dodge or tax fiddle.

Where we can, we will take the VAT off the total price
when we quote a total, and this will usually be shown
as being taken off the Post & Packing.

In effect, instead of charging £1.50 for p&p for one DVD
we would charge £1.20, and just 90p for two DVD's.
For 4 DVD's on one order, they will be post-free,
in all cases effectively giving slightly more than 2½%.

It really is easier for us to do it that way,
rather than alter every single price
and then have to alter it all back again.

We do wish Government would stop and THINK
before they pull tricks like this on us.
