a pb for 3000m, coming 4th in 8:33:25

North Devon Relays, Braunton, 03/05/2000
The first of the North Devon relays saw an excellent Blues turnout, and a record overall entry of 157 athletes in 45 teams. Our fastest senior men were split across teams to enable better competition, and we paid for it, the "A" team coming fourth, but we made up for it in the other categories - wins coming at Vet Men, Senior Ladies, Vet Ladies and Junior levels.
Some of these times look wrong, particularly those on the first two legs, but these are the official times so we have to go with them.

Round The Tree Races, Torrington, 05/05/2000
A slightly amended course this year, due to the redevelopment of the Torrington Pannier Market,
but that doesn't make the hill any easier. Peter Rigler was a clear winner of the mens race,
with Ricky heading a posse of Blues in 3rd-6th, including first vet Simon Edney. Lorraine
Kenneally was first Blues home in the ladies, while among the junior age groups Rachael
Cullingham and Joe Davies both took victories.

Rarely a weekend goes by without Peter Rigler finding a race somewhere, and this was no exception - a high quality 5-miler in Wiltshire accompanied by his brother Peter came 5th (27:01), with Brett 10th (28:45)
Devon Track & Field Championships, Exeter, 13&14/05/2000
Double success was the order of the day, headed by Andrew Ingle, 1st in the 400m in 51.9 and the 800m in 1:54.6 Also Stefan Phillips picked up two county titles amongst the Under 13 Boys - 800m (2:28.7) and 1500m (5:06.9), as did Vicky Rolfe in the 1500m (4:46.0) and 5000m (17:52.0).

Light blue vests were again to the fore at the multi-terrain 10K at the attractive National Trust property. Jon Ward lead to a clean sweep of the 1-2-3 ahead of Peter Rigler and recent recruit Martin Owen. Both men and ladies team awards were also picked up.

Another successful Blues event. Pre-race favourite Mike Feighan took the main event by over a minute, with messrs Butler, Rigler and Edney making it 4 Blues in the first 5. Vicky Pincombe of Minehead held off Vicky Rolfe in the ladies race, those two finishing two minutes ahead of the third placer. In the age groups, home wins for Simon Edney, Maurice Cockwill, Lorraine Clements and Liz Oke.

Intercounties Championships, Bedford, 29/05/2000
Andrew Ingle was selected to run for Devon in this event, and narrowly missed qualification for the final of the 800m, coming third in his heat in 1:57.83, one tenth of a second outsite the final qualifying place.
Open Meeting, Exeter, 30/05/2000
Peter & Brett Rigler travelled to an Exeter Harriers open meeting to primarily take part in the mile, where Peter won in 4:53, with Brett just two seconds further back. Peter also finished 5th in the 3000m in a pb of 9:30, while Brett took 2nd in the 400m in 59.2
