Westward Crosscountry League, Exeter, 03/12/2000

Surprisingly good conditions at the Exeter venue considering the amount of recent rain. Good team packing amongst the U/13 & U/15 boys was a highlight, with also the best turnout of senior men leading to a good team score. Individually, perhaps the best performance came from Mark Davies with a pb of 5th in the U/15 Boys.

North Devon Schools Cross Country, West Buckland, 07/12/2000

It seems strange cheering on competitors clad in red, but as the bulk of our runners in this event represented Bideford College, that's what we had to do. Toby was our only winner on the day, while several others picked up high enough positions to make the N Devon team to make the County event. Ben's 4th was one of the highlights, while further down Kim had her best race of the winter so far, Leon had an excellent run, as did Ellie, and the senior boys claimed a rare 1-2-3.

Wyvern Christmas Cracker 10K, Weston Super Mare, 10/12/2000

On what was supposed to be a fast course, terrible wind and rain slowed times so much that the winner took over 35 minutes. Jon Parkinson had one of hist best ever runs, taking 2nd of nearly 1000 runners, with Peter Rigler and Bill Siviter both inside the top ten. As the only other O/40 ahead of Bill took overall 1st prize, our man was promoted to be 1st vet. In the ladies we took 1st and 3rd, Helen Parkinson and Lorraine Kenneally, while Maurice Cockwill and Elizabeth Higgins each claimed 2nd in their respective O/50 age groups. Further back, it was nice to see Jenny Cockwill in her first race for ages. A few weeks later, Liz Oke also received the first O/60 prize in the post.

Torrington's annual mudfest was suprisingly no worse than usual after all the rain we have had. Simon Edney, with multi-coloured hair, led our contingent with third, while Helen Parkinson also took third in the ladies.
