Easter Bunny 10K, Yeovil, 01/04/2002
Lucy Owen has shown excellent form since joining us a couple of months ago,
and had a superb run at Yeovil on Easter Monday, not only claiming first in
her age group, but first lady overall. She also set a new club record for
an O/35 10K, shaving a few seconds of Lorraine Clements' previous mark.

Taunton Marathon / Half Marathon, Taunton, 07/04/2002
An excellent turnout for the Taunton half / full marathon with some excellent
times to show for it. 26 milers first - Jimmy had an excellent time of 3:10
(and aims to do London next week). Over
the shorter distance, a strong headwind over the last 3 miles slowed some of
the times down, but not Peter as he ran a pb to take an impressive second place.
With Steve, Alec and Stuart close behind, it looks like we have claimed the
team prize. Among the ladies, Elizabeth led our squad home in 5th overall and
1st age group, with a superb run from Laura making her the first non-vet (!)

Andrew Neale Warm-Up Meeting, Braunton, 07/04/2002
The first track meeting of the season, arranged this year at short notice, so the only results I have are for Kirsty Rigler. She competed in the U/15 Girls, coming 5th in the 800m in 3:16, and 4th in the 200m in 35.0 - both new personal bests

Flora London Marathon, London, 14/04/2002
Ideal conditions saw excellent performances from the entire BAAC contingent in the 22nd Flora London Marathon. Peter Hockin led the group home, finishing as 50th man and 60th overall in a new personal best, breaking Simon Edney's seven month-old club O/40 record. Simon and Steve, next in line, although not running pb's, ran well. Kevin ran extremely well for over 20 miles, then struggled. Neil knocked nine minutes off his best previous time, while Jimmy, only a week after Taunton and running around wearing a large foam heart, was only three minutes slower. He was announced by the PA in The Mall as the first real fancy dress runner home. All others recorded pb's, with special praise to all those competing the famous 26 miles 385 yards for the first time.

First BAAC Handicap, Bideford, 17/04/2002
The first of this years race series saw an excellent turnout of 77 runners Those who ran a marathon on Sunday (Peter Hockin, Steve Sanders and Neil Marke) were all given an extra 2 minutes, but it seems as if they did not need it as they all ran superbly. Several runners stand out as being somewhat ahead of the handicapper, but the first one of a series always involves a lot of guesswork. They'll be sorted out for next time !
The times below are the handicapped times - take the starting handicap shown
in the third column off to arrive at the runner's actual time.

North Devon Relays, Braunton, 24/04/2002
Another year of North Devon Relays, now organised by Tim Jones of NNDR. He had a nightmare to start with when the person from North Devon AC who was supposed to open the changing rooms forgot, but the actual race turned out just fine. We won the majority of the categories with some excellent times.
