Barnardo's Cardiff Marathon, Cardiff, 01/09/2002
Nice to see a new marathon added to the calendar. Neil and Jimmy have been training really well this summer, and it paid off with two excellent runs. Neil beat the magical three hour barrier for the first time, and Jim missed out by a heartbreaking eight seconds, but was compensated by a huge pb.

A fine pair of runs for the Owen family - Martin taking third overall and second vet, with Lucy being 1st lady and within the top ten overall as well. Also nice to see Stump Bowden back, his first recorded race since New Year's Day. In the junior race we had 1-2, Kirsty Hamilton leading Luke Rigler home

South of England Relays, Aldershot, 28/09/2002
The vet men made a gallant effort to defend the title they lifted last year, just coming up one place short. Two changes from last year saw newly turned veteran Bill, and Alec (at the last minute) come in to the squad. As would be expected of a silver medal winning side, all ran excellently. The senior men also had to make late changes, bringing in two of the vets who had already run, and finished a respectable 33rd.

Unseasonably hot weather for late September didn't hurt Stuart Philps as he led our large squad home in an excellent 5th place with a new pb, with Mark only half a minute back also in the top ten. Personal bests also for Bob, Kay and Annette. Shame there wasn't a team award, as we would have won it.

taking in this event on the Sunday and both were rewarded in different ways.
Alec set a new personal best of 36:02, and while Jamie has beaten his time
of 42:00 before, he picked up 1st U/21.
