South West Schools Cross Country, Truro, 01/02/2003
Only Kirsty Hamilton made progressed to the SW round of the Schools Cross Country, held this year at Truro School. She came 4th in the Junior Girls, an impressive improvement of 35 places on last year.
Wadebridge 7, Wadebridge, 02/02/2003
The course for this event was extended by approx. 150 metres to make the full, measured seven miles for the first time.

Norwich Union S W SportsHall Championships, Torbay, 02/02/2003 Matthew Cawsey was selected to compete for Devon in the Standing Triple Jump at this inter-county event, coming 11th with a best leap of 6.05m. The Devon team won the boys title, so Matthew will be going to Birmingham in April to compete in the National finals.
Inter Counties Cross Country, Nottingham, 08/02/2003
An early start for eight of our runners who had performed well at the recent Devon Champs, and were thus rewarded with a trip to Nottingham. Kirsty Hamilton had a superb effort to place inside the top ten in the U/15 Girls, which turned out to be the best placing obtained by any Devon runner. The consistent Kevin Heywood led the Devon senior men home for the second year running, 50 or so places higher than last time around.

A very tough 13 mile struggle off road, with all that a SWRR event usually entails. Add at least 20 minutes to your half marathon time to get a standard time for this race.

Devon Sportshall Fixture 4, Dawlish, 09/02/2003
Only Matthew Cawsey made it to Dawlish this time, but he upheld the Blues honour extremely well. Two first places puts him in a very good position when the overall titles are awarded at the final fixture. Matthew also competed for a Devon select in the area championships, the team were winners and have made it through to the national finals in Birmingham in April.

Westward League Cross Country, Paignton, 15/02/2003
It was the turn of the seniors to dominate, with three of the first five men and the top two ladies - wins for Kevin and Helen. Kevin has now sewn-up the overall title, and results on the day mean Kirsty Hamilton only has to finish fifth in the last race to join him with a trophy. Steve Turner took on the "Tough 10", just breaking the top 100 (in 99th!), covering the 10+ miles of variable terrain in 1:11:27
National Cross Country Championships, Parliament Hill, 22/02/2003
Despite making a lot of entries, only four runners actually participated at this years Nationals. Kirsty's run for 15th was admirable, as she lost a shoe early on.

A fabulous run by Lucy Owen saw her finish 5th overall, 1st lady (and 1st lady vet), beating the second lady home by almost eight minutes. Her time was 45:51
