BUCKLEY APPOINTED AS MANAGER

Written by Mark Morris

The Imps have appointed ex-Grimsby boss Alan Buckley as manager only 24 hours after the sacking of Phil Stant and George Foster.

The City Board have moved quickly to appoint a new man and at a Press Conference at Sincil Bank this afternoon, 49-year-old Buckley was unveiled as the Imps' new team manager. Alan was the favourite man for the job amougst fans, and he was seen in the St Andrews Stand at the 3-2 reverse against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Chairman Rob Bradley said : "We had to move fast,"

"That was the challenge for the new board. We had to move fast but we had to make the right decisions for the short-term and hopefully long-term future of Lincoln City."

"A word that figured highly in this was experience. We need an experienced head at this time in these very difficult circumstances. We were very pleased to see Alan Buckley last night and I'm equally pleased to announce that Alan Buckley is the manager of Lincoln City starting today."

"I would also like to register our thanks to both Phil Stant and George Foster and I would like to pay due regard to the respect they showed us at a very difficult time."

Imps Online feels the move to bring a new manager in quickly is a wise one which could decide whether Lincoln City are playing Division 3 or Conference football next season.
