This
web site is a constantly updated on-line diary detailing the transformation
of a humble Vauxhall Chevette 1256 hatchback from old man's runabout
to boy racer's urban projectile, complete with high performance sound
system.
The car is currently near the beginning of this process and as it
develops the site will be updated to reflect it's current state. The
two photos here on the front page represent the car as it was when
I bought it. Externally, the car will not change much, most of the
work to be carried out will concentrate on the running gear and interior,
with small touches to the exterior to complete it.
The
car as advertised had the following work carried out about two years
before I bought it:
New inner and outer sills on both sides.
New front inner and outer panels.
New wings.
New inner and outer rear wheel arches.
New HS front and rear spoilers.
Bodywork welded as needed to complete sound chassis.
Front seats replaced with Recaro seats from an Astra.
Standard wheels replaced with alloy wheels from Manta 'C' series.
(These were fitted with brand new 195/60x14 tyres)
Bee sting aerial. (From a Corsa I think)
Crappy,
huge, red Vauxhall sticker between rear lights.
(Sorry Richard, I just didn't like it! It looks a lot better without
it.)
