The Evolution of the Human Mind

I wrote this essay over ten years
ago now, but it is still topical (I think) being all about memes and what
they do to you. Memes have been called ‘Viruses of the Mind’ which is
one aspect of what they are. My essay suggests that they are more akin
to the genes they are modelled upon than might at first be apparent. In
fact just as genes are the means by which physical life propagates, memes
can be thought of as the means by which mental life (ideas) are stored
and propagated.
