Codename for latest Subaru Impreza WRC. Has new Impreza oval lights.
555
Old name for SWRT(ie Subaru 555 Rally Team). Also name of Impreza (Subaru Impreza 555) which Colin Mcrae drove to victory in the WRC Driver's Championship.

Richard Burns
Rally driver. English. Has had two spells at Subaru. Best finish for Subaru second in Driver's Championship in 2000 after titanic struggle with Marcus Gronholm. Lost despite winning third Rally of GB in a row.

Catalunya Special
An Impreza Turbo special to celebrate the 1996 WRC Manufacturer's Title they secured after the Rally of Catalunya. Finished exclusively in black mica paint with special mats and a number on the back to say which of the 200 made the car was. Released in March 1997 costing £21,610.

Impreza
Small family car launched by Subaru Motors of Japan in 1992. In saloon and hatch/estate bodystyles. Originally only in 1.6 form has had huge success in World Rally Championship winning the Drivers' Championship in 95 and the Constructors' Championsip 3 times. New car launched in Japan in 2000, in Britain in 2001.

Markko Martin
Estonian rally driver. Spent a successful year in 2000 in a group N Corolla WRC with occasional outings in an Impreza and a Focus WRC. Joined Subaru in 2001. Yet to make a big impact.
Mcrae Special
Another Impreza Turbo special this time to celebrate Colin Mcrae's 1994 RAC Rally victory. Produced by Prodrive (see P) in blue mica paint and gold alloys, only 200 (although there is unlikely to be a number 13) were produced. It cost £22,999.
Colin Mcrae
Rally driver. Scottish. Won WRC Drivers' Championship at Subaru. Moved to Ford in 99. Has had a special Impreza named after him (see above).

P

Prodrive
Racing and tuning company in the UK which helps control SWRT and also helps the Ford TOCA (Touring Cars) Racing team. Also makes special Imprezas like the Impreza P1.
P1
The P1 is the last of the old generation Impreza specials and was made in the year 2000. Designed for and only available in the UK, it's rakish lines and different alloys were designed by the designer of the Mclaren F1. Only 1 000 were going to be produced but that was upped to 1 500 after massive demand.

Special Impreza model produced to celebrate the signing of rally driver Richard Burns from Mitsubishi. 237 bhp.

Petter Solberg
Norwegian rally driver. Spent 2 years at Ford before moving to Subaru for 2001 season. Has scored 1 point in WRC Driver's Championship after 4 events. Has a tendency to drive the car too hard and crash.
Sti
Subaru Technica International. The technical arm of Subaru which tunes up special models.
Subaru
Japanese Car Manufacturer. Named after the Japanese name for the six brightest stars in the night sky (they are known as the Pleiades in the west). This also forms the company's badge. Formed in 1955 as part of Fuji Heavy Industries.
SWRT
Subaru World Rally Team. Formerly known as Subaru 555 Rally Team. The name of the division of Subaru responsible for the WRC.

Turbo (Impreza Turbo)
The range-topping Impreza in the UK which has/had 215bhp and cost £21,000. Now called WRX 2.0 (see below).

WRC
Stands for World Rally Championship. The premier rallying competition. There are around 17 events in a year all around the globe.
WRX
Name for Japanese tuned-up Impreza special. Now name for new Impreza Turbo in UK (WRX 2.0). Some grey imports in UK.
