Events page.This page will show the many events that have taken place in the town on the last few years and those that are planned.There will be links to photo`s on other parts of the site.

International Day.

This took place on September 6th 2001 and was a celebration of music and dance

with Thetford`s twin towns.

Carnival June 21st 2003.

A parade of children and Zulu warriors led the town to Castle Park where there werefun fairs,music and displays.The music finaly stopped as the sun set.Gallery soon,there is a collage now.

Fabba July 28th

The people of Thetford were entertained on a warm summer evening in July 2002 by Soul Solution and an Abba sound like band,Fabba.it was a great evening a over 5000 people came to have a look.

Saxon battle.

As part of the 800th year since Richard I made Thetford a mayoral town a battle that `might` have taken place between Saxons and Normans was re enacted on the grounds on Castle Hill.

Mini Steam Rally.

Most years in the town there is a mini sream rally to raise funds for the Charles Burrellmuseum in the town.Charles Burrell was the largest maker of steam engines in the world until it went broke in 1929.

 

Millenium.

The town gathered in a local car park to watch fireworks bing lit on `Button Island`,there was a great atmoshere.

Dad`s Army.

A popular TV show was filmed in and arround the town.The series was about theHome Guard which would have defended the UK in the event of an invasion during the Second World War.A museum dedicated to the series was oppened at nearby Bressingham and a parade of the vehicles and actors took place inThetford in June 2000.

The town continued it`s celebrations of having a mayor for 800 years with a display of riding skills from the Household Cavery and marching music from the Welsh guards.

Jubilee.

There were two main events in the town to mark the Golden Jubilee of the queen,a children`s parade and a march by members of the Royal British Legion.
