Formal Shinseido Exercises

Students of Shinseido begin their training learning the basic techniques and a number of partner exercises. In addition, according to their needs, they may also learn some or all of the Formal Shinseido Exercises.

The Exercises (or waza) of Shinseido are designed to teach students about various aspects of the art. Each exercise consists of a sequence of movements executed in different directions and focuses on a specific group of skills or principles. In addition, each exercise has a set of partner drills (or bunkai) associated with it. The bunkai enable the student to explore the practical application and lessons of the exercise with another person.

Some of the Shinseido Exercises are shown below. Click on any exercise for a full description.
