The Work of
Ross of Mull
Historical Centre

The original focus of the steering group was to build a picture of the lives of the people of the Ross around the time of the Highland clearances, their emigration and the fates of the settlers and their descendants, to provide a quality amenity for visitors and locals alike and to work with the community to enhance trade in the area by encouraging more visitors to the Ross. The steering group have remained focussed on the original intention of building the story of the Ross and linking the people to the place, but as time has gone on the temporary centre has received information and enquiries regarding all aspects of the Ross's rich heritage, (genealogical, archaeological, geological, built and social history and the ecology). And it became obvious to the steering group that diversification would be required, and the temporary centre now houses and is developing displays and information on all aspects of the Ross.

Currently the mainstay of the project is to focus upon Genealogical Research and The Interpretation of The 7 Districts which make up the Ross - Kilvickeon, Ardtun/Lee, Uisken, Ardfenaig, Fidden and Bunessan.
