Join us on the ultimate day tour of Scotland. Travelling around the Highlands
we continuously cross the path of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites. Passing
Stirling Castle (the first of 5 castles we pass) we journey through the areas
once dominated by Rob Roy and William Wallace, across the Rannoch Moor and into
Glencoe for a photo stop and hear the haunting story of the infamous massacre
in 1692. Crossing Loch Leaven at Ballachulish we have lunch at the Ben Nevis
woollen mill near Fort William then follow the Caledonian Canal to Fort Augustus.
Here we have the chance to cruise Loch Ness for an hour on The Royal Scot, which
has the largest sonar on the Loch. Non-sailors will have the chance to enjoy
this tranquil little village on the banks of Loch Ness. We then drive for an
hour along the entire length of Loch Ness, passing Urquhart Castle where the
water is 800ft deep. Where possible there will be a photo stop in this area.
Through Inverness the capital of the highlands we head south driving past the
Cairngorms and over Drumochter grabbing a quick but magnificent view of Blair
Castle and after a comfort stop in picturesque Pitlochry in the luscious Atholl
Forrest we then cross the Forth Road Bridge viewing the superlative Forth Bridge
before arriving home with a million memories. There will be plenty of time to
relax or even snooze on the coach as the guide will be playing a wide selection
of music at the appropriate times, for the “wide awake club” this
gives a chance to chat or contemplate this marvellous land. “This is what
the hereafter must be like for someone who has been very very good”

Heading west towards Loch Lomond we take time for a short panoramic tour of Glasgow and find out how this once industrial giant is again flourishing. Across the River Clyde we stop on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond Britain’s largest expanse of water, with time for a boat trip or a ramble, your choice. After lunch in Aberfoyle we drive over the Trossachs. With its lochs, glens and heather covered mountains it is hardly surprising it is known as Scotland in Miniature. Driving through the villages of Callander and Doune we have a photo stop at the Wallace Monument, a 200 ft tribute to the man immortalised in the movie Braveheart. On top of a volcanic rock sits Stirling Castle. With at least an hours stop on the castle esplanade you will have the opportunity to visit the castle or other nearby attractions. Enjoy a relaxing drive home (listening to Scottish music while) passing Bannockburn, scene of Robert The Bruce’s victory over the English in 1314 and Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots in 1542.
