Anti-Static Precautions

One the formost dangers to computer components is electrostatic discharge. The most common way this happens to computer components is when a human being with a bit of static messes about with them! To avoid disasters like this you can buy specially made anti-static bands that you wrap around your wrist and connect to earth, but why bother when you can make your own for (almost) free!!

Simply take a strip of kitchin foil, make a band out of it that will go around your wrist. Then wedge this under your watch strap, and connect a wire to it using a crocodile clip. Then you have to connect this to a suitable earthing point, the best way is to clip the other end of the wire to the bare metal of a radiator with another crocodile clip.
