The A1200 Clock Port

The A1200 clock port is a little known expansion port build into the A1200. It was originally intended (surprisingly enough) for plugging in battery backed up clocks. But its potential has recently been realised and many other expansions have been made. These include sound cards (Prelude, Melody), PC floppy drive adaptors (Catweasel), and serial/parallel port expansions (Hypercom series).

To get at the clock port, you first have to remove a small piece of shielding over the clock port area. This can be done by simply levering up the four lugs at each corner, then lifting it away.

You can see the clock port header to the left hand side of the image, it is a row of 22 pins near to the edge of the metalic shielding. The four chips in the middle are chip RAM, 512kb each.
