Edwards From: "West End Centre" westendcentre@hants.gov.uk Date: 5 August 2008 14:34:17 BST To: "West End Centre" Subject: 'Global Voices' - Vocal Workshop Dear Choir, Hello, my name is Simon Gerring from the West End Centre in Aldershot, Hampshire. If you haven't heard of us before, The West End Centre is an arts centre that delivers a wide range of excellent events and activities for the people of Rushmoor and beyond. With pottery, dance and music classes for people as young as 3 years old, to blues, folk and world music, art classes, comedy, and theatre for the more mature audience. I'm currently contacting local musical organisations such as yourselves regarding a very exciting project happening here in late September. Global Voices is a weekend singing workshop led by three amazing vocal tutors and highly accomplished artists from around the world, helping to promote diversity and broaden musical boundaries, whilst bringing together both adults and young people. Founding member of Black Umfolosi, Lucky Moyo (Zimbabwe) is joined by Shaheen Khan (India) and Tea Hodzic (Bosnia), to explore different melodies, harmonies and rhythms from around the world by inviting you to sing Southern African, Indian & Balkan songs. The weekend will culminate in a mass performance alongside the tutors on the evening of Sunday 28th September. This extremely unique experience is especially suitable for members of community choirs and people with an interest in broadening their musical horizons by exploring global vocal heritage. Global Voices is also a fantastic opportunity to have fun singing in a group and making new friends, whilst experiencing and sharing new world cultures. Global Voices vocal workshop will take place over the weekend of Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th September, running 11am-4pm each day, with the mass performance on Sunday 28th. I would be extremely grateful if you could pass this information on to your choir members, and I have attached a 2-page leaflet (download 925 KB) with more details to this email for your information. Places on the 'Global Voices' weekend workshop are very limited as the groups are fairly intimate, so if you'd like to book a place or would simply like any further information, please give me or my colleagues a ring on (01252) 330040. I would also be very happy send you more information through the post if you'd prefer. Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you Yours sincerely, Simon Gerring West End Centre, www.westendcentre.co.uk/ Queens Road Aldersho GU11 3JD Admin: 01252 408040, Box Office: 01252 330040 |

| 16 Jan 2008 | Message from Richard Menhinick, 14/1/08 (rehearsal
help; free recordings) Hi. I've just joined the choir (last week) so thought I'd share the fruits of my internet research into the current music! Mozart Requiem MP3 files may be downloaded free from ... http://www.classiccat.net/performers/vu_kamerkoor.htm This is a complete orchestrated recording by the Dutch choir VU Kamerkoor and sounds really good! Mozart Requiem Midi files are available (also free) from http://requiemonline.tripod.com/midi.htm These are music only in four parts and play in Window Media Player. A recording of Insanae et Vanae Curae by the University of Bristol Church Choir may be downloaded in MP3 format, free from http://www.01-mp3search.com/top53-insanae.html Best Regards, Richard Menhinick |
