| The old market town has a good deal to offer, a wealth of half timbered Tudor buildings, magnificent Georgian house, a splendid river, beautiful gardens and narrow winding streets. There is lots to see in Shrewsbury including several museums, the castle and the famous abbey. Organised daily tours (in summer) are available with official guides to explain the history of the town. Shopping in Shrewsbury is well served. As well as most of the big multiples there are antique and secondhand bookshops, boutiques, a craft market and Victorian arcade; most of them in narrow side streets and passageways. Sporting facilities abound; fishing, swimming, horse riding, tennis, bowls and gold. Indoor sports are catered for with a number of sport and leisure centres. |
